Loading country data…

An IB Geography classroom game for the demographic transition (syllabus 1.2.1). Each round draws four countries — one from each of stages 2–5 — as anonymous birth-rate, death-rate and population graphs on identical axes. Students read the curves and drag each country onto the graph they think it is. The wider the gap between the falling birth rate and the low death rate, the faster the population grows: that gap is the clearest tell of a country's stage. Feedback is score-only, so the reasoning has to come from the graphs. Data: World Bank World Development Indicators, 1960–2024.
